07/31/2007 - Atlanta, GA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Atlanta Braves and Texas Rangers made it official on Tuesday, finalizing a trade that will send first baseman Mark Teixeira to Atlanta as part of a seven-player deal.
Teixeira and lefty reliever Ron Mahay will join the Braves in exchange for rookie catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, minor league infielder Elvis Andrus and minor league pitchers Matt Harrison, Beau Jones and Neftali Feliz.
Teixeira was said to be among the most sought-after players at this year's trade deadline, particularly since he is not eligible for free agency until after the 2008 season. He is, however, arbitration-eligible this winter.
In 78 games this season, Teixeira is batting .297 with 13 homers and 49 runs batted in. He spent about a month on the disabled list earlier this summer with a strained left quadriceps, an injury that ended his streak of 507 consecutive games played.
The 27-year-old switch-hitter, who played collegiately at Georgia Tech, has belted more than 30 homers and driven in at least 110 runs in each of his last three years. He was an All-Star in 2005, when he had career highs with 43 homers, 144 runs batted in and a .301 batting average, and is a two-time Gold Glove winner.
Mahay, who was in his fifth season with the Rangers, will fill the need for a lefty in the Atlanta bullpen. He has a record of 2-0 with a 2.77 earned run average and one save in 28 games this season.
The 36-year-old veteran, who began his pro career as an outfielder, has also pitched for Boston, Oakland, Florida and the Chicago Cubs since breaking into the majors in 1997 and has a career mark of 18-10 with a 3.98 ERA.
Saltalamacchia appeared in 47 games for the Braves this season and is batting .284 with four homers and 12 runs batted in. He started 20 games behind the plate, but also started 11 times at first base to keep his bat in the lineup.
The 22-year-old is also a switch-hitter who didn't figure into Atlanta's plans behind the plate with All-Star Brian McCann entrenched there. Saltalamacchia could move right into the Rangers' catching position -- currently manned by Gerald Laird.
Andrus, who will turn 19 in August, was batting .244 with three homers, 37 runs batted in and 25 stolen bases in 99 games at Single-A Myrtle Beach. He will be assigned to Texas' Single-A affiliate in Bakersfield.
Harrison, a left-hander, was 5-7 with a 3.39 earned run average in 20 starts at Double-A Mississippi. He will be assigned to Texas' Double-A club in Frisco.
Jones, another lefty, had no record with a 15.26 ERA at Myrtle Beach and was 5-0 with a 2.96 ERA and three saves in 21 games at Single-A Rome. He will head to Single-A Clinton for Texas.
Feliz, a right-hander at the Single-A level, was 2-0 with a 2.05 ERA in seven games at Danville. He will pitch at Single-A Spokane for the Rangers.

Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament odds
As of February 9, MySportsbook.com has released its coveted 2007 Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament betting odds. “March Madness betting ” only a month away, the top ranked Florida Gators are favorite at 7-2 to win it all. The defending champs have not disappointed at all this season and currently have a 22-2 record and are undefeated (9-0) in SEC play. The Gators’ thrive off of their extremely balanced, experienced and versatile attack. All five starters started in last seasons National Championship game. What is most impressive with this group is their balance; the five starters all average between 10.7 and 13.6 PPG. The Gators have been on an absolute roll having won 15 straight by an average of 16.4 PPG.
Right behind the Gators are the 5th ranked UNC Tar Heels at 9-2. The Heels (21-3, 7-2) are absolutely loaded with top notch talent and are as deep as any team in the country. A concern for the Tar Heels might be inexperience. Of their top four scorers/ minute earners, three are freshmen and the other is a sophomore. The rest of the regular season, the Tar Heels play only one team that is currently ranked (Duke). Their remaining opponents do combine for an impressive 107-58 record though.
Other teams that the MySportsbook.com members seem to believe will win it all include the west coasts’ top team #2 UCLA (6-1), #3 OSU behind man-child Greg Oden (8-1), and #4 Wisconsin (10-1) behind their defense which has given up 70+ points only three times all season.
Below is a list of some of the favorites to win the 2007 Men’s NCAA Basketball Championship lines. For the full list of teams and March Madness odds be sure to log onto MySportsbook.com. Albert Pujols to be This Year's Home Run Champ Says Online Sportsbook
Barry Bonds is a 50-1 long shot to be this year's home run champ odds. The favorite to be this year's home run champ is none other than Albert Pujols, however.
Now that Barry Bonds is signed and in Giants camp, it is on to his pursuit of all of sports most prestigious records: the all-time home run mark. Bonds sits just 21 homers shy of tying Hank Aaron for the career mark at 755. Word out of Giants’ camp is that Bonds is the healthiest he has been in a few years. Bonds is just two seasons removed from his injury riddled 2005 campaign where he played in only 14 games and hit only 5 home runs. He did come back last year and had a solid season hitting .270 with 26 bombs. All eyes will be on Bonds this spring and summer not only because of his home run chase but his highly publicized steroid abuse allegations. If and when Bonds breaks the record, he surely will not get the positive attention one should for breaking a record that was once thought of as “unbreakable”. Despite Bonds decent season last year, he is just 50-1 at MySportsbook.com to lead the MLB in long balls this season.
Not surprisingly, the favorites to go deep the most times this season are Albert Pujols 5-1, Ryan Howard 6-1, David Ortiz 8-1 and Alex Rodriguez 12-1. With 49 homers, Pujols finished second in the National League behind Howard (58). Pujols is considered the favorite due to the consistent power numbers that he has posted since breaking into the league in 2001. Also one must consider the fact that he played in 16 fewer games then Howard did due to an injury. Howard smashed 58 homers in his first complete season of big league play en route to the National League MVP odds award. He silenced his critics by successfully hitting left-handed pitching. Howard also displayed the ability to use his power to the opposite field. Two attributes which should keep Howard amongst the league leaders in long balls for years to come. From the American League representatives, David Ortiz leads the field. Ortiz was second in the majors last year with 54 home runs. Except for 1999 when he only played in 10 games, Ortiz has improved on his home run numbers each year he has been in the majors (1997).
Be sure to log onto online sports betting site MySportsbook.com to check out the odds for who will lead the MLB in home runs this season. Below is just a sample of the players listed. With the highest credit card rates in the industry, MySportsbook.com is the place to bet on baseball this summer.
